Project Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project Title:  To Blog or Not To Blog?

Participants:  Mary Furnari, Leeana Duncan, Ahmad Alkhaifa, Justine Hughes (Taylor). We are four  post-graduate education students studying through the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand.

Project Goals:

1.  To investigate the use of blogging to promote interactivity and student-centred learning.

2.  To examine the use of blogging to support personalised, collaborative, lifelong learning.

We are interested in the development of blogs to promote collaborative learning and are examining the pedagogy behind the development of blogging.  We are also interested in group versus individual blogs - which is more beneficial for teaching and learning.

By the end of the project we hope to provide others with a definition of blogs and blogging, a summary of the advantages and disadvantages of blogging, the pedagogical background that supports the use of blogs in education at all levels leading to lifelong learning and collaboration and the tools to get started on their own, or their learners’ blogs.

We will also provide links to blogs at all levels of learning to showcase what is possible at different stages of the learning journey.
